Madhurima is the Founder of Moborr, a global conscious luxury brand that, over the past decade, has carved a distinctive place in contemporary fashion through its commitment to natural fibres, handwoven textiles, and seasonless design.

Raised in Indore within a family marked by a legacy of enterprise, community leadership, and refined taste, she grew up in a century-old heritage home built from world famous Jaipur red stone, where carved balconies, intricately detailed ceilings, handmade tiles, and softly glowing hand-blown and hand-etched Belgian glass lamps reflected the quiet beauty of things built to last.

Within those walls, a deep culture of textiles quietly lived on through her mother, Shashi Tongia, who had inherited from her mother-in-law a carefully preserved collection of royal drapes - silks, brocades, pure zari, intricate embroideries, and heirloom weaves gathered across generations.

Stored in metal trunks and wrapped in fine muslin for preservation, these pieces were brought out and worn with care. Clothing was never simply worn in that home - it was inherited, cared for, and lived with.

Growing up among such influences shaped an early sensitivity to material, proportion, and the quiet dignity of well-made things - sensibilities that continue to inform her visual language and material choices today.

With a background in brand storytelling and creative alliances, Madhurima approaches clothing as both object and emotion: through how it feels, how it moves, how it travels, and how it holds memory.

Her business instincts were shaped across generations — through stories of her great-grandfather, by observing her grandfather, Gulab Chandji Tongia, honoured with the titles 'Mashir Bahadur' and 'Jain Ratna', and later through the guidance of her father, Gold Medalist Mahesh Tongia - while growing up surrounded by craftsmanship and cultural heritage.

Over the years, she has built enduring collaborations with weaving clusters, natural dyers, and women-led businesses across India, reinterpreting heritage textiles for contemporary wardrobes.

Grounded in purity of material and an exacting attention to detail, her work privileges the finest natural fabrics, small-batch production, and seasonless wardrobe building - offering a thoughtful counterpoint to disposable fashion and trend-driven excess. Through Moborr’s growing presence, she continues to advocate for a slower, more responsible relationship with clothing.

A frequent traveller and lifelong wildlife enthusiast, she draws deep inspiration from forests and coastal landscapes, their colours, silences, and ecological intelligence quietly shaping Moborr’s palettes, textures, and materials.

In the longer arc of her journey, she hopes to engage more deeply with conservation, particularly in support of elephants.

Under Madhurima's leadership, Moborr has grown into a women-led enterprise championing craft, sustainability, and the quiet luxury of clothing designed to endure - quietly, beautifully, and for a long time.

For Madhurima, clothing was never meant to be worn briefly - it was meant to live, travel, and gather meaning over time.

"Some clothes follow seasons. Ours follow life."
